LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP – A tractor-trailer closed River Road yesterday for several hours when its driver attempted to travel under the railroad bridge, reported the Lawrence Township police.
The driver attempted to travel under a 12-foot, six-inch railroad bridge when the tractor-trailer’s height was more than 13 feet. The trailer was a total loss, police said.
The bridge sustained structural damage but is still in use. The tractor-trailer was towed from the scene, police said. Police were assisted by the fire department, which provided traffic control during the road closure.
