State police at DuBois

  • An incident of simple assault/harassment occurred March 30 on Helvetia Road in Brady Township. During the incident, a 51-year-old Luthersburg man allegedly pushed, shoved and struck the victim with his knees, causing injury. Charges were filed through the district court, state police said.

Clearfield Borough

  • Police responded to a parking complaint along North Fourth Street. Upon arrival police were unable to find a violation.
  • Police have initiated an investigation into an alleged theft incident that occurred at the Clearfield YMCA. During the incident, someone allegedly removed cell phones and money from the men’s locker room.
  • Police responded to an alleged altercation between a mother and a daughter at a residence along Bigler Avenue. Police determined that it was verbal in nature.
  • Police responded to a 911 hang-up call along Reed Street. Upon arrival police determined that two females had engaged in an argument over a civil issue at the residence. Police advised the females of their options.
  • Police received a report about an alleged retail theft from a local business. During the incident, two juveniles allegedly entered the store and removed items without paying for them.  The incident remains under investigation at this time, police said.
  • Police responded to East Market Street for a disabled vehicle. Police assisted the female with getting her vehicle off of the roadway.
  • Police received a report about an alleged disturbance on Reed Street. During the incident, a female was allegedly banging and yelling at another apartment door. Police responded and handled the situation at the scene.
  • Police receive a report about a female who was allegedly being harassed via text-messaging. Police made contact with the actor to advise him of the complaint.
  • Police fingerprinted an individual for employment purposes.
  • Police assisted Lawrence Township police with serving an emergency Protection from Abuse order on a Clearfield resident.
  • Police were dispatched to the area of East Eighth Street for a possible impaired driver. Police searched the area and located the vehicle in question. Police determined that its driver wasn’t impaired, however.
  • Police had a bicycle turned into them when it was found in Witmer Park.
  • Police were called to the area of the Clearfield County Courthouse, where sheriff deputies witnessed a male attempt to get into a county-issued vehicle. Police arrived at the scene and determined the male needed medical attention.
  • Police have initiated an investigation into several bad checks that were passed at a local grocery store.
  • Police received a report about a vehicle that was allegedly damaged by a sharp object while it was in the parking lot on East Locust and North Third streets. The vehicle, police said, sustained a large key mark on the driver’s side area. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
  • Police were called to assist with an overdose patient along North Front Street. Police arrived at the scene and assisted with getting the male to the hospital for treatment.
  • Police received a report about an alleged incident of harassment in which a female was receiving unwanted text messages and phone calls from another female.
  • Police responded to Sheetz for an alleged disorderly female. Police handled the incident at the scene.

Lawrence Township

  • Police received a report about a suspicious person on Old Penfield Road.
  • Police received a report about a phone scam.
  • Police received a report about a woman who was allegedly intoxicated and passed out on a bench at the Clearfield Mall. Upon arrival police located a 61-year-old New Jersey woman who was highly intoxicated; she was placed in the Clearfield County Jail.
  • Police received a report about an alleged domestic disturbance on Lawrence Avenue in Hyde. Further, police took two individuals into custody on a probation violation. Charges were filed for simple assault and harassment, police said.
  • Police were requested to check the welfare of an individual on South Second Street. Police located the female and determined she was experiencing medical issues. The female, police said, was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

State police at Clearfield

  • An incident of criminal mischief occurred April 3 on Evergreen Drive in Beccaria Township. During the incident, someone allegedly operated an off-the-road vehicle on the victim’s property, which damaged the lawn. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.

Clearfield Borough

  • Police were dispatched to a vehicle accident in the area of South Third Street and Ogden Avenue. Further, a male driver failed to stop and impacted a vehicle traveling on Ogden Avenue. No injuries were reported; however, one vehicle was towed from the scene, police said.
  • Police were dispatched to a parking complaint along East Market Street. However, the vehicle was gone upon police arrival to the scene.
  • Police are investigating an alleged incident of harassment in which a female has been receiving unwanted messages.
  • Police were contacted by a resident who allegedly received a text message about a possible scam. She did not reply to the message and contacted police.
  • Police were dispatched to East Market Street where a motorist had locked keys in their vehicle. Police were able to gain entry into the vehicle.
  • Police were dispatched to East Walnut Street for a noise complaint. Police made contact with the resident who apologized and turned the music down for the night.
  • Police were dispatched to South Second Street where a tractor-trailer had pulled lines down and caused a traffic hazard. Police and emergency personnel responded and discovered that upon the trailer snagging the lines it had also pulled down three, separate poles, including two light poles and a traffic control signal. Police assisted other agencies during the night with providing traffic control at the intersection of Second and Market streets.

Lawrence Township

  • Police received a report about littering on Firetower and Clover Hill roads.
  • Police received a report about littering on Clover Hill and Bloom roads.
  • Police received a report about an alleged phone scam.
  • Police received a report about lost keys from a township resident.
  • Police served a warrant and transported the person to the jail.
  • Police were dispatched for a fire alarm at the Lawrence Park Village.
  • Police received a report about an alleged domestic dispute at a local residence.

Sandy Township

  • Police received a report about a false alarm at CNB Bank on Wednesday.
  • Police received a report that a 16-year-old Penfield girl was driving a vehicle without a license on Wednesday. Police located the vehicle and discovered that girl had been driving and an 18-year-old vehicle owner was a passenger. The girl stated she was driving because the owner had been drinking.  Charges were filed against both, police said.
  • Employees of Midway Drive In reported receiving a counterfeit $100 bill for the purchase of an order of food on Wednesday.
  • A 34-year-old Wilcox man reported seeing someone hiding in the bushes on South Eighth Street on Thursday. When police located the caller, they found him to be disoriented, acting erratically and showing signs of being under the influence. The man was transported to Penn Highlands to be evaluated before being taken to jail on a 48-hour detainer.  There was no evidence of anyone hiding in the woods, police said.
  • A 51-year-old man called police from Lowe’s on Thursday, saying his roommate was missing. Upon arrival police determined the man was under the influence and his roommate was not missing.  He was released to his mother.
  • On Thursday, a 24-year-old South Main Street resident sold a fish tank online and the buyer sent her a counterfeit money order for an amount higher than the price. She recognized this as a scam and reported it to police.

State police at Clearfield

  • An incident of DUI occurred Saturday on Deer Creek Road in Morris Township. Further, a Morrisdale man was stopped for faulty equipment on his truck. While conducting the traffic stop, state police determined the man had consumed alcohol and administered field sobriety testing. As a result, state police determined the man displayed signs of impairment. Charges were filed through the district court, state police said.
  • An incident of burglary occurred April 5 on Carbide Road in Pike Township. During the incident, someone allegedly entered the victim’s property while he wasn’t at home and removed a bag filled with miscellaneous change totaling approximately $80. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
  • An incident of DUI occurred Saturday on state Route 53 south in Cooper Township. Further, a Grassflat man was allegedly operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Charges will be filed through the district court, state police said.
  • An incident of criminal mischief occurred Saturday on Rockwood Road, Houtzdale. During the incident, someone allegedly damaged the rear windshield on the victim’s vehicle. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
  • An attempted burglary occurred sometime Thursday or Friday at McDowell Repairs, Woodland. During the incident, someone allegedly attempted to enter but failed to do so. In the process, they allegedly damaged the doorway area. The incident remains under investigation at this time, and anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
  • An incident of criminal mischief occurred April 6 on Trout Run Road in Shawville. During the incident, someone allegedly entered the victim’s property and caused damage to the passenger’s side of his truck. Damage allegedly consisted of that to scratching of the door panel and prying a side window, which broke a latch. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
  • An incident of criminal mischief occurred Sunday on the Allport Cutoff in Graham Township. During the incident, someone allegedly damaged the driver’s side mirror and turn signal on a Morrisdale woman’s vehicle; they also snapped the passenger’s side windshield wiper off of a Woodland man’s vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
  • An incident of criminal mischief occurred Sunday on the Allport Cutoff in Graham Township. During the incident, someone allegedly put a deep scratch on the passenger’s side door and another on the driver’s side quarter panel, as well as damaged the turn signal of a Philipsburg woman’s vehicle. They also allegedly ripped off the passenger’s side door handle, antenna and fuel cap from a Morrisdale man’s vehicle. State police at DuBois

  • An incident of burglary/theft occurred Saturday on Ponderosa Drive in Huston Township. During the incident, someone allegedly entered the victim’s residence and removed several household items.
  • An incident of criminal mischief occurred sometime Friday or Saturday at Dave’s Exxon in Penfield. During the incident, someone allegedly threw a rock into the front window, breaking it before fleeing the scene. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at DuBois at 814-371-4652.
  • On Sunday, a 24-year-old Reynoldsville man allegedly discharged a pistol toward his neighbor’s residence while intoxicated on Winslow Road in Winslow Township. The incident remains under investigation at this time, state police said.
  • An incident of retail theft occurred Saturday at the Dollar General Store in Winslow Township. The incident remains under investigation at this time, and appropriate charges will be filed against known suspects through the district court, state police said.
  • An incident of DUI occurred Saturday on U.S. Route 322 in Winslow Township. Further, a known male was stopped for a traffic violation and was suspected of driving under the influence. He was subsequently taken into custody, and charges are currently pending at this time, state police said.
  • An incident of theft occurred Saturday on State Game Lands off of Bliss Road in Snyder Township. During the incident, someone allegedly stole the victim’s game camera and ground blind. The incident remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact state police at DuBois at 814-371-4652.
  • An incident of theft occurred March 26 at Sheetz on the William Penn Highway in Smithfield Township, Huntingdon County. Further, a Reynoldsville man advised state police that while working at Sheetz, his coat was stolen from the store. The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at DuBois at 814-371-4652.

State police at Philipsburg

  • An incident of criminal mischief occurred sometime Friday or Saturday on Guenot Lane in Huston Township. During the incident, someone allegedly threw nails into the victim’s driveway. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Philipsburg at 814-342-3370.
  • An accident occurred on the Port Matilda Highway on Monday in Rush Township. Danielle M. Nartatez of Philipsburg was traveling west when she lost control of her vehicle while negotiating a left-hand curve. Her vehicle exited the north berm and impacted an embankment; it then overturned and landed back on its wheels. The Nartatez vehicle continued to travel west and impacted a tree before coming to a final rest. Nartatez wasn’t injured and was wearing her seatbelt; she was cited for the accident, state police said.

State police at Ridgway

  • An incident of DUI occurred Saturday at the intersection of Railroad and South Michael streets in St. Marys. During a traffic stop, a 45-year-old Ridgway man was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. Charges are currently pending blood/alcohol test results, state police said.

Clearfield Borough

  • Police received an animal complaint along River Road. Further, police referred the information to animal control.
  • Police issued a parking ticket for a violation along the 200 block of East Market Street.
  • Police assisted the fire department with a report about smoke filling up a basement at a residence along Hannah Street.
  • Police arrested a female for public intoxication after she was allegedly observed staggering along South Second Street. She was found to be under the influence of alcohol and transported to the Clearfield County Jail.
  • Police received a report about an alleged disturbance at a Bigler Avenue residence. Upon arrival police found that the actor had fled the scene, and the residents did not want to pursue charges against them.
  • Police apprehended a male along Bigler Avenue who was found to have an active arrest warrant. A friend was able to provide the amount due to satisfy the warrant, police said.
  • Police received a report about a hit-and-run accident on Zimmerman Avenue. Police located the actor’s vehicle and then spoke to the individual gathering the needed information.
  • Police arrested a male after he was allegedly found to be in violation of a Protection from Abuse order. He was transported to the jail.
  • Police received a report about a Daisy Street resident who was allegedly receiving unwanted phone calls and text messages. Police contacted the actor and advised him of the complaint and to cease contact.
  • Police received a report about a disabled vehicle along River Road.
  • Police responded to Cemetery Road for a possible break-in. Upon arrival police found a realtor lock lying on the ground.  However, there wasn’t any entry made as police checked the residence.
  • Police were dispatched to Linden Street for individuals who were allegedly ringing doorbells and running off. Police searched the area and located a group of individuals who fled from them.
  • Police responded to High Street for an intoxicated person who was allegedly causing a problem at his residence. Police were able to speak to the male and calm him down.

Lawrence Township

  • Police received a report about a psychological emergency in the area of Putty Road.
  • Police received a driving complaint that occurred at the Target Square.
  • Police received a report about alleged domestic issues.
  • Police received a report about a tractor-trailer hitting the Railroad Bridge on River Road.
  • Police received a report about an alleged incident of vandalism in the Nelson Road area.
  • Police received a report about a found registration plate for a trailer.
  • Police received a report about an alleged phone scam in which the caller claimed the victim owed money to them. Police would like to encourage residents not to provide any personal information without verification.
  • Police received a report about another alleged phone scam.
  • Police received a report about an alleged incident of vandalism that occurred at the PA Mountain Speedway. During the incident, someone allegedly smashed out several windows to a trailer located at the speedway.
  • Police received a report about a 31-year-old Clearfield woman who was struck by a vehicle on Firetower Road. She was transported to the hospital by private vehicle with minor injuries, police said. Police have a suspect and charges will be filed as a result.
  • Police received a report about a suspicious vehicle along Old Penfield Road and Square Timbers Lane. However, the vehicle was gone prior to police arrival.
  • Police received a report about an alleged incident of disorderly conduct involving a woman screaming in the Glen Richey area. Upon arrival police searched the area but couldn’t locate anyone.
  • Police received a noise complaint that occurred on Baney Road.
  • Police responded to the Wal-Mart Supercenter where children were allegedly not in proper child safety seats in an older truck. Upon arrival police checked the area but couldn’t locate anyone.
  • Police were assisted by the state police at Punxsutawney with a warrant on a 34-year-old male. The male was picked up by state police who found he had warrants from 2004 through the township police. The male was subsequently taken to the jail.
  • Police received a report about an alarm at a local business. Upon arrival police found everything to be OK.
  • Police received a report about a suspicious vehicle at the Recreational Park.
  • Police received a report about an alarm at a local business.
  • Police received a report about a civil property dispute.

Curwensville Borough

  • Police received a report about alleged damage to a blue Ford truck while it was parked on Meadow Street on Thursday.
  • Police received a report about a minor accident that occurred Friday on State Street. Further, a motorist pulled into a parking space and impacted a parked vehicle, causing minor damage.
  • Police received a report about speeding vehicles on Windy Hill Road. Police would like to remind motorists that the speed limit is 25 miles per hour and police will provide extra patrols in the area.

Sandy Township

  • On Friday, police received a report about a pit bull that had gotten into the basement of a South Brady Street residence. The dog was taken into custody and transported to the kennel, police said.
  • On Friday, employees of Sears reported that a group of juveniles was in the DuBois Mall parking lot. The juveniles refused to leave when asked to by employees.  Police handled the situation without incident.
  • A Liddle Road resident reported that her black lab and golden retriever had gotten loose from her residence on Friday.
  • A Dixon Avenue man reported his Alaskan Malamute had gotten loose from his residence on Saturday.
  • Police received a report about a false alarm at a Treasure Lake residence on Saturday.
  • A 50-year-old Treasure Lake woman ran into a guiderail, seriously damaging her vehicle on Saturday. The woman admitted that she had been drinking, and after failing field sobriety testing, she was transported to Penn Highlands for a legal blood draw. Charges are currently pending at this time, police said.
  • On Sunday, a 24-year-old Nelson Nursery Lane resident lost control of his vehicle, which exited off of South Main Street, and came to rest against a tree. The man was able to get out of the vehicle and was at a residence upon police arrival.  The man admitted he had been drinking and lost control of the vehicle.  He was transported to Penn Highlands for injuries sustained in the accident and a legal blood draw.  Charges are currently pending at this time, police said.
  • After leaving the Eagles in Falls Creek on Sunday, a 41-year-old woman ran her car into the swamp area off of Miller Brothers parking lot. She was allegedly trying to chase her 53-year-old boyfriend who had started walking after they engaged in a fight. The vehicle was pulled from the swamp and driven from the scene, police said.
  • A West Long Avenue resident reported a group of juveniles was in the area with a BB gun on Sunday. The man thought the kids had shot a duck, police said.  Upon arrival police could not locate the juveniles.
  • Police received a report about a male who was allegedly grabbing and pushing a female in the parking lot of PNC Bank. Upon arrival police located the two who were standing near a truck in the parking lot.  Police determined it to be a father and daughter who got into a disagreement. Police handled the situation without incident.

State police at Clearfield

  • An incident of harassment occurred Monday on Main Street in Madera. During the incident, a Houtzdale man and the victim allegedly engaged in a verbal argument in which he head-butted him in the face. The man was charged through the district court, state police said.

State police at Philipsburg

  • On Monday, someone turned in a found electronic scanner with associated items to the state police at Philipsburg. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Philipsburg at 814-342-3370.
  • An incident of theft by unlawful taking occurred Sunday on Dirt Lane, which is off of Hoover Lane, in Taylor Township. During the incident, someone allegedly removed a chainsaw from the victim’s property; it has an orange, plastic cover over the engine and an 18-inch cutting bar. The chainsaw is valued at $450. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Philipsburg at 814-342-3370.

Lawrence Township

  • Police received a report about an alleged incident of theft by deception that occurred at the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School.
  • Police received a report about an alleged incident of theft by deception that occurred in the area of Shaw Street.
  • Police responded to a parking complaint on Garman Lane.
  • Police responded to the Bowman’s Hill area for a child who was allegedly being disorderly. Upon arrival police spoke with the child about his actions.
  • Police assisted a disabled motorist at the intersection of U.S. Route 322 and the off-ramp of Route 879. Police remained on stand-by until help arrived at the scene.
  • Police received information about a two-vehicle, non-reportable accident at the Plaza parking lot.
  • Police received a report about an alleged phone scam, which involved a caller claiming to be with the IRS. The caller, police said, told the victim there was a federal lawsuit filed against them. Police would like to remind residents not to provide their personal information to anyone over the phone without receiving verification.
  • Police received a report about an alleged incident of harassment at the Hyde Fire Hall.
  • Police received a report about an alleged incident of harassment by communications.
  • Police received a report about a suspicious vehicle at a local business.
  • Police received a report about a suspicious vehicle on Bowman’s Hill Road.

State police at Clearfield

  • An accident occurred Tuesday on the Kylertown – Drifting Highway in Cooper Township. James M. Dillen of Drifting was traveling south and a deer was on the roadway. Dillen attempted to swerve; however, he failed to maintain a proper speed and slid sideways in a counterclockwise rotation. His vehicle exited the roadway on the west berm, hitting a ditch before striking and knocking over a tree. Dillen was charged with multiple traffic violations through the district court, state police said.

State police at DuBois

  • An incident of disorderly conduct occurred Tuesday on Smithtown Road in Washington Township. During the incident, a known juvenile male allegedly left his parents’ residence without permission and refused to return home. He allegedly entered a vehicle with friends and refused to advise his parents of his whereabouts, his destination or who he was with. The juvenile, state police alleged, continued to be defiant with his parents and police. Several officers from multiple agencies were involved in locating the juvenile.
  • The cause of a garage fire remains undetermined after occurring Monday on Apple Orchard Road in Winslow Township. Two vehicles were inside the garage at the time of the fire; damage is estimated at approximately $100,000, according to state police. The fire remains under investigation at this time, state police said.
  • An accident occurred Monday on Cameron Camp Road in Washington Township. Danielle M. Satterlee of Reynoldsville was traveling south when her vehicle traveled off of the roadway and struck a ditch.

State police at Philipsburg

  • On Tuesday, a wallet was found in the area of North Front and Laurel streets in Philipsburg Borough. The wallet was turned into state police at Philipsburg; state police contacted the owner and returned the wallet.

Lawrence Township

  • Police responded to a minor traffic accident on Mill Road.
  • Police received a report about a traffic violation on River Road.
  • Police received a report about a suspicious male at a River Road business.

State police at Philipsburg

  • State police investigated the natural death of a 58-year-old Julian man that occurred sometime between 10 a.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday in Huston Township.
  • A hit-and-run accident occurred Monday on Sleepy Hollow Road in Rush Township. A Lincoln Navigator sideswiped a vehicle operated by Jonathan C. Coyne of Philipsburg. Coyne and his passenger told state police that both vehicles stopped, and the Navigator’s operator, an unknown male, asked if there was any damage. State police said the male was advised of damage to the mirror; the male replied there wasn’t any damage to his vehicle and left the scene.

Lawrence Township

  • Police received a report about an alleged theft incident. Police determined that it involved personal property and was civil in nature.
  • Police received a report about an alleged illegal dumping incident in the Glen Richey area.
  • Police received a report about an alleged domestic dispute that occurred in the Glen Richey area. Police handled the incident at the scene.
  • Police assisted a motorist who was having a medical emergency.

Curwensville Borough

  • Police received a report about an alleged scam in which a resident received notification by mail that she was a winner of a large cash prize. She was also required to send a monetary fee to claim it. Police would like to warn residents that this is a scam.
  • Police received a barking dog complaint that occurred in the area of Anderson Street. It was referred to the animal control officer.

State police at Philipsburg

  • An incident of DUI occurred on April 4 at Presqueisle and Front streets in Philipsburg Borough. Further, a known 44-year-old man was allegedly stopped for a traffic violation and subsequently arrested for DUI.

Clearfield Borough

  • Police located a disabled vehicle along Bridge Street. Further, police learned that the operator was out of gas and assisted in getting their vehicle off of the roadway.
  • Police responded to the park along Woodland Road, where a group of juveniles was allegedly acting disorderly and causing problems. Upon arrival police spoke to the juveniles who denied any wrong-doing.
  • Police had a phone turned in after it was located on Second Street. Police were able to locate the owner and return the phone.
  • Police have initiated an investigation into the alleged theft of medication that occurred along Thompson Street.
  • Police received several bad check complaints from local businesses.
  • Police were dispatched to West Sixth Street for an animal complaint in which a dog jumped the fence and was on the sidewalk. The owner was able to retrieve the dog without any issues, police said.
  • Police responded to West Cherry Street for a male who was allegedly going door-to-door soliciting for money. However, police were unable to locate the male.
  • Police responded to an activated alarm at a business along Latimere Street. Upon arrival police located cleaning personnel at the scene.
  • Police have initiated an investigation into an alleged harassment complaint in which a male was sending several lewd messages to the victim.
  • Police arrested a male on an outstanding warrant from another county. He was taken to the Clearfield County Jail.
  • Police assisted the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office with serving a warrant on a male along South Fifth Street.
  • Police unlocked a vehicle along East Locust Street.
  • A set of keys was located along Elm Avenue and turned into police.

Lawrence Township

  • Police assisted Domestic Relations with multiple warrants. All individuals were taken to the CCJ.
  • Police received a report about the alleged theft of food at the Economy Inn.
  • Police assisted Curwensville Borough police with an incident on Griffith Avenue.

Curwensville Borough

  • Police assisted state parole with an attempt to apprehend a wanted person Thursday on Griffith Street. When the male was taken into custody, there were several items within the residence that indicated there may be a methamphetamine lab, police said. As a result, police had the residence vacated and requested the Pennsylvania State Police Clandestine Lab Response Team to assist at the scene. Police said it was determined there wasn’t a hazard at the residence. Police removed several items and indicated that the investigation is ongoing at this time.

DuBois City

  • A two-vehicle accident occurred Wednesday at the intersection of South Brady Street and Rose Alley. Upon arrival police learned of one injured person; the person received care for their injury from medical personnel at the scene. Upon an accident investigation, police determined an 80-year-old DuBois man was operating a Bronco on South Brady Street, when it rear-ended a Jetta being operated by a 32-year-old DuBois woman. The Bronco then crossed the centerline and impacted a building, which housed two businesses that were open at the time. Police were assisted by DuSan Ambulance and the DuBois Fire Department.
  • Police received a report about an alleged domestic disturbance Wednesday in the area of South Jared Street and West Washington Avenue. Upon arrival police heard a male and female arguing from outside of an adjacent apartment building. Police located the couple’s apartment and determined there wasn’t a physical assault. Both the male and female were cited for disorderly conduct, police said.
  • Police received a report about an alleged domestic disturbance involving a father and son Wednesday in the 100 block of East Park Avenue. Upon arrival police determined there wasn’t a physical assault. Both the father and son told police they had engaged in an argument and yelled at each other. Police were able to resolve the situation at the scene.
  • Police received a report about an alleged domestic dispute Wednesday in the 700 block of West Long Avenue. Upon arrival police made contact with an 18-year-old DuBois woman; she told police that her mother refused her entry into the residence to gather her belongings. Police made contact with the woman’s mother and were able to mediate a resolution.
  • Police were patrolling Thursday on North Brady Street when they observed a 33-year-old Treasure Lake man for whom there were outstanding warrants. Police proceeded to follow the man and to take him into custody. The man was subsequently turned over to the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office and transported to the CCJ.
  • Police received a report about an alleged incident of harassment Thursday on East Weber Avenue. Upon arrival the victim told police that he and his wife had received text messages in which he was threatened. Police interviewed the suspect, a 31-year-old DuBois man, and he allegedly admitted to having a strong hatred for the victim due to past events. Police noted that the victim declined prosecution against the man at this time.
  • Police were dispatched to North State Street regarding a missing woman Thursday. As police prepared for a search, she was located by a motorist and transported back to her residence.
  • Police received a report about a woman allegedly yelling Thursday in the 100 block of Olive Avenue. Police learned that the woman was engaged in a domestic dispute with her child’s father. The female fled in a silver-colored sports utility vehicle and the male fled on foot prior to police arrival.

State police at Clearfield

  • An alleged incident of disorderly conduct occurred Friday on Spruce Street in Bigler Township. Charges have been filed against a known 17-year-old male, state police said.
  • An incident of criminal mischief involving alleged damage to an electrical cord occurred Friday on Hill Street in Irvona Borough. Charges have been filed against a 48-year-old Irvona man, state police said.
  • An incident of theft by unlawful taking occurred sometime between Thursday and Sunday at an Old Erie Pike address in Boggs Township. During the incident, someone allegedly stole $100 in cash from the victim’s purse. The incident remains under investigation at this time, and anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
  • An incident of criminal mischief occurred Saturday on Church Hill Road in Morrisdale. During the incident, two Morrisdale residents allegedly engaged in an argument, which resulted in a male ramming his vehicle into two of the female’s vehicles. The female, however, didn’t want to press charges, and state police terminated the investigation.
  • An incident of DUI occurred Saturday in the area of the Glen Richey Highway and the Old Erie Pike in Lawrence Township. Further, a 42-year-old Hyde man was traveling north and allegedly committed several traffic violations. He was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol and transported to the state police at Clearfield for blood/alcohol testing. Charges are currently pending through the district court, state police said.
  • An incident of DUI occurred Saturday on state Route 53 near White’s Beer Distributor in Morris Township. Further, a 38-year-old Morrisdale man was allegedly stopped for speeding and determined to be under the influence of alcohol. The man was subsequently charged with DUI, state police said.

State police at Philipsburg

  • An incident of harassment occurred April 15 on Smith Street in Philipsburg Borough. During the incident, a 20-year-old Philipsburg man allegedly punched the victim after they had engaged in an argument.
  • An incident of underage drinking occurred Saturday in the area of Presqueisle and Front streets in Philipsburg Borough. Further, state police allegedly stopped a vehicle when its operator committed a traffic violation and found a 19-year-old passenger had consumed alcohol.
  • An incident of harassment occurred Friday on East Laurel Street in Philipsburg Borough. During the incident, a known male and female allegedly engaged in a physical altercation. Charges will be filed through the district court, state police said.

Clearfield Borough

  • Police responded to an alarm at a business along East Pine Street. Police were cancelled, as the appropriate staff members were at the scene.
  • Police received a report about alleged damage to a vehicle while it was parked at an address along Weaver Street. Police found that someone allegedly used a rock to scratch the paint to a vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
  • Police responded to North Third Street to assist a motorist who had locked their keys inside their vehicle. Police were able to gain access to the vehicle.
  • Police initiated an investigation into an alleged theft in which money was removed from the front porch of an Elk Street residence.
  • Police responded to the area of East Cherry and Third streets for a male and female who were allegedly fighting. Police responded but were unable to locate the individuals.
  • Police initiated a stop along Nichols Street for a traffic violation. As a result of the stop, police located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
  • Police responded to North Second Street for an activated alarm. Upon arrival police located staff at the scene and found everything to be OK.
  • Police responded to a possible hit-and-run accident that occurred along NW Fourth Avenue.
  • Police received a report about a male who was walking around attempting to sell magazines. Upon arrival police located the male and advised him of the proper paperwork needed to sell items in the borough.
  • Police had a bank card turned into them after it was located along Park Avenue.
  • Police reported that a dog tag was located in Upper Witmer Park and turned into the station.
  • Police responded to an alleged altercation along West Market Street. Police found the dispute to be verbal in nature.

  • Police received a report about a civil issue that involved the theft of leased property.

  • Police received a report about a hit-and-run accident that occurred at the Toasted Monkey. Anyone with information is asked to contact township police.

  • Police received a report about an alleged domestic disturbance on Jury Street. Upon arrival police handled the incident at the scene.

Sandy Township

  • On Friday, police received a report about a male who was allegedly staggering along the Rich Highway. The man was gone upon police arrival.
  • On Saturday, a 21-year-old Penfield man was allegedly traveling south on the Bee Line Highway at high rates of speed when he passed police who were on a traffic stop. Police followed the vehicle, as it pulled into the Snappy’s Convenience Store parking lot. The man allegedly appeared to be intoxicated and after failing field sobriety tests, he was transported to Penn Highlands for a legal blood draw.  Charges are pending at this time, police said.
  • On Saturday, a Cedarwood Avenue resident alleged that someone shot through a bedroom window of their home. Police located the bullet in the bedroom, and searched the area for the offender. The incident remains under investigation, police said.
  • On Sunday, a 61-year-old Spuck Road man rolled his truck over on Hungry Hollow Road. When police arrived at the scene, the man was belligerent and uncooperative. Police noted that they suspect he was intoxicated and transported him to Penn Highlands for a legal blood draw and evaluation due to the accident, both of which he refused. Charges are currently pending at this time, police said.

Abbas Threatens to Blow Up Sheetz, Kill Employees Over Malfunctioning Gas Pump

DUBOIS – An Ohio woman is accused of threatening to blow up a Sheetz store and threatening the employees over a malfunctioning gas pump.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed with District Judge Patrick Ford’s office April 7, Laurie Abbas, 41, 8003 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor, Ohio, is charged by the DuBois City police with terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct.

According to the affidavit, on April 7, police were called to the Sheetz Store on East DuBois Avenue for a woman threatening to blow up the store and kill the employees.

The caller told police that the woman had left the store, but came back in and began to shout racial slurs at one of the employees and was continuing to make threats about killing people in the store.

When police arrived, they found the store manager outside, near one of the gas pumps with the woman, later identified as Abbas.

When police asked what was going on, Abbas allegedly told police that she “got ripped off on gas.” As police were talking to Abbas, she began to yell and swear at the officers, allegedly saying if the officers came near her, she would kill them.

Abbas also continued to yell and swear about the employees in the store. The officers were able to calm Abbas down so she could continue to speak to police.

The officers were then approached by a witness outside the store. The witness said he was inside the store when Abbas started swearing and yelling.

The witness said Abbas allegedly started yelling very loudly that she was going to “kill some people in the store and blow the place up.” The witness also said that Abbas started using racial slurs toward one of the employees and threatened to kill the employee.

The officers then spoke to the store manager. The manager said Abbas came into the store and started yelling about the gas pump not working.

The manager said Abbas got upset with one of the employees and began to yell and swear at her.

Abbas then started yelling, swearing, and using racial slurs at another employee. Abbas allegedly threatened to kill the employee and told the manager “tell her that she is as good as dead.”

The officers interviewed one of the employees who said Abbas was upset and yelling at one of the other staff members.

When the employee attempted to intervene, Abbas allegedly began yelling and swearing at the employee and threatened to kill her. The employee said Abbas used racial slurs toward her and allegedly threatened to kill the employee and blow up the store.

When officers informed Abbas that she was going to be placed under arrest, Abbas allegedly started to yell at the officers and said she was upset about the gas and everything that was going on.

Abbas said she got upset with the store for not giving her the gas. She allegedly made a comment about being angry with one of the employees for “smiling at her as she was yelling at her.” Abbas allegedly told police that she was “going to jump over the counter and take her.”

The officers also noted that at that point in the morning, there were a lot of people in the store and Abbas was creating a serious public inconvenience.

District Judge Patrick Ford Presides over Preliminary Hearings

DUBOIS – District Judge Patrick Ford presided over preliminary hearings April 17.

Charges against the following defendant were withdrawn

  • John Kurt Smith, 50, DuBois, had been charged by the DuBois City police with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.

The following defendants have waived their right to a preliminary hearing. Their cases will be sent to the Clearfield County Court of Common Pleas for further disposition.

  • Shelby Ray Pearce, 22, Ridgway, is charged by the Sandy Township police with theft of leased property. Bail was set at $1,000 unsecured.
  • Antonia Lamonte Gaskins, 41, DuBois, is charged by the Sandy Township police with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. Bail was set at $2,500 unsecured.
  • Candice Jill Alvetro, 46, DuBois, is charged by the DuBois City police with DUI. Bail was set at $1,000 unsecured.
  • Drew David Ferguson, 34, Wilcox, is charged with public drunkenness, possession of drug paraphernalia and theft by unlawful taking. A charge of misbranding a controlled substance was dismissed. Bail was set at $10,000 monetary.
  • Donald James Nelson, 47, Johnsonburg, is charged by the DuBois-based state police with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. Bail was set at $2,500 unsecured.
  • Laurie Abbas, 41, Mentor, Ohio, is charged by the DuBois City police with terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $10,000 unsecured.

State police at Clearfield

  • An incident of harassment/disorderly conduct occurred Sunday in the area of Walnut Street in Coalport Borough. During the incident, a 22-year-old Coalport man allegedly wanted the victim to come outside of a residence and to engage in a fight with him and his brother. Once the victim left the residence, the men allegedly started to chase him down the highway without any legitimate purpose. Both men were charged for the incident through the district court, state police said.
  • An incident of criminal mischief occurred sometime Friday or Saturday near the boat launch at Curwensville Lake in Pike Township. During the incident, several vehicles were allegedly observed near the boat launch with middle-aged males and females. When the operators of the vehicles left in a hurry, a Dodge pick-up truck was allegedly observed traveling off the pavement in a wet, grassy area, causing deep impressions. A damage estimate hasn’t been determined, state police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.

  • State police received a report about a missing dog April 15. It is a male yellow lab with a bright orange collar; its name is Blake. The dog’s license number is on his belly. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Philipsburg at 814-342-3370.

  • Police received a report about a single-vehicle accident along Calvary Road.
  • Police were contacted regarding civil questions.

  • Police received a report about an alleged incident of disorderly conduct that occurred Friday in the area of the Curwensville Elementary School.
  • Police will arrest a Curwensville man who allegedly took cigarettes Saturday from Fuel On.
  • Police assisted a resident who was locked out of their home Saturday.
  • Police received a report about two suspicious males Saturday at the Oak Hill Cemetery. Upon arrival police found the males were walking through the cemetery from their residence. Police would like to remind residents that the cemetery is closed during the nighttime hours.
  • Police located the operator of a truck that struck a parked vehicle Sunday at the Dollar General Store. A witness was able to obtain the registration information for the truck, police said.
  • Police received a report about a PT Cruiser being struck by a red Jeep Tuesday and then it fleeing the scene.

Shoening Accused of Threatening Another with a Gun

DUBOIS – A DuBois man is accused of threatening another man with a weapon.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed with District Judge Patrick Ford’s office March 17, Jason A. Shoening, 31, 312 W. Long Ave., DuBois, is charged by the DuBois City police with terroristic threats and harassment following an incident March 12.

According to the affidavit, police were called to 333 S. Brady St., DuBois, for a man who had allegedly been threatening another individual with a gun.

An officer spoke to the victim who said a man came into the victim’s home wearing a mask. Even with the disguise, the victim said he knew the person as “Jason” but could not remember the last name.

The victim said the name began with an “S.” The victim said he called a friend who also knew “Jason” and the victim said his friend told him the perpetrator’s last name was “Shoening.”

The victim told police that Shoening allegedly threatened to kill the victim and burn down his house. The victim said Shoening was threatening him because the victim had called Shoening’s mother and had mentioned the call during the incident.

The victim also told police that while Shoening was threatening him, there was a gun near Shoening’s waist. The victim told police Shoening pulled the gun up but did not completely remove it from his waist area. The victim described the gun as possibly a 45 caliber semi-automatic handgun.

The victim said while Shoening had his hand on the gun, he allegedly threatened the victim again, saying if the victim called the police, Shoening would kill him or have one of his biker friends from Sykesville come and kill him.

After the incident, the victim told police Shoening walked over to a car in the alley and left.

Dill Facing Charges after Crash

DUBOIS – A St. Marys man is facing charges following a traffic accident.

According to an affidavit t of probable cause filed with District Judge Patrick Ford’s office April 10, Louis Edward Dill, 28, 1066 Million Dollar Hwy., St. Marys, is charged by the DuBois-based state police with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, driving at unsafe speeds, careless driving, restrictions on alcoholic beverages and two summary traffic charges.

According to the affidavit, state troopers were dispatched to a vehicle, which had rolled over on Route 255/Bennetts Valley Highway in Huston Township March 3. When the troopers arrived, they learned that the driver of the vehicle had left the area but returned and was being transported to Penn Highlands DuBois via ambulance.

As officers investigated the accident, they allegedly found about 17 cans of alcohol inside the vehicle. They also found tracks in the snow where the driver allegedly got out of the vehicle and began to walk through the snow along Route 255, then headed west, before returning to the road.

Witnesses to the accident said the vehicle involved in the crash had passed them just before the accident, coming downhill in a no-passing zone. When the witness arrived at the accident, the driver was not there.

The troopers then went to the hospital and spoke with the driver, later identified as Dill. Dill allegedly told police that he had been at his grandmother’s and was returning home. He allegedly told police he must have hit some black ice and the vehicle slid across the road and into a ditch, before it rolled over.

The troopers could smell alcohol coming from Dill and he allegedly told them that he had four beers over the course of four hours.

When asked why he left, Dill allegedly told the troopers that he was going to go to a friend’s house who lived nearby. He said he was walking through the snow and heard the sirens. He said he stopped but no one saw him, so he walked back to the crash.

Blood-alcohol testing showed Dill had a BAC of 0.176 at the time of the accident.


Wilson Facing Charges for 2011 Rape Incident

CLEARFIELD – Charges have been filed against Kyle Andrew Wilson, 21, of the State Correctional Institution at Benner Township for an alleged rape incident involving an 11-year-old girl in March of 2011, according to Magisterial District Judge Richard Ireland’s office.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the alleged victim walked with Wilson from the Clearfield Area Middle School. The alleged victim told police Wilson asked if she wanted to smoke marijuana and she agreed to. The alleged victim said she walked with Wilson to a wooded area near the baseball fields along Arnold Avenue.

The alleged victim said she continued to walk with Wilson until residences weren’t any longer visible. She alleged that Wilson tripped her, causing her to fall to the ground. She alleged that Wilson proceeded to rape her with his hand over her mouth, so that no one would hear her. The alleged victim said she told Wilson “no” and to “stop.”

After the alleged rape, she said Wilson got up and left her there. She waited until Wilson was far enough away and ran toward the roadway, at which point she called her father to pick her up.

On Jan. 22, police interviewed Wilson about the alleged rape. Wilson admitted to having sex with the alleged victim but claimed she asked him to. On March 11, police took the alleged victim to the area to determine if the rape occurred in Clearfield Borough or Lawrence Township.

Police determined the alleged rape occurred in the wooded area behind the baseball fields on Arnold Avenue, which is in Clearfield Borough. Police noted that Wilson was 17 years old and the alleged victim was 11 years old at the time of the rape incident.

State police at Clearfield

  • An accident occurred Tuesday on U.S. Route 322 near McDowell Road. Jon P. Bannon of Clearfield was traveling east when he swerved and his vehicle collided with the guiderail, causing disabling damage. Bannon didn’t report any injuries; his vehicle was towed from the scene, state police said.
  • An incident of disorderly conduct occurred Tuesday at the Philipsburg-Osceola Middle School in Chester Hill Borough. During the incident, a juvenile male allegedly left the school after swearing at his teacher. State police were notified to search for the juvenile who returned home after several hours. Charges were filed through the district court, state police said.
  • An incident of burglary occurred sometime between November of 2014 and Tuesday on Elizabeth Street in Beccaria Township. During the incident, someone allegedly removed three firearms that belonged to the victim. The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
  • An incident of harassment occurred Tuesday on Ida Street in Woodward Township. During the incident, a 38-year-old Houtzdale man allegedly engaged in a verbal and physical altercation with the victim. He allegedly struck the victim in the head several times with a closed fist. Charges are being filed through the district court, state police said.

State police at Philipsburg

  • A domestic violence incident was reported April 11 on Ernestville Road in Rush Township. Upon arrival state police determined there wasn’t a domestic violence incident. However, state police determined the accused violated an active protection from abuse order. The accused was taken into custody with his bail being set at $10,000, state police said.
  • An incident of criminal mischief occurred Tuesday on the Tyrone Pike in Rush Township. During the incident, someone allegedly struck the victim’s mailbox, which caused damage to it. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Philipsburg at 814-342-3370.

Lawrence Township

  • Police received a report about an alleged phone scam from a Hyde resident.
  • Police received a report about a possible abandoned vehicle at the church in O’Shanter.
  • Police received a report about an accident and determined it had occurred in the borough.
  • Police received a civil complaint over personal property.
  • Police checked a residence for suspicious activity and determined everything to be OK.
  • Police received an animal complaint that occurred in Hyde.

Curwensville Borough

  • Police allegedly found two Curwensville students with drugs and paraphernalia Tuesday.
  • Police contacted Children & Youth Services after a report about a young child allegedly wandering alone in a shirt and diaper on George Street off of Ridge Avenue. In addition to the child wandering off, police indicated there were allegedly safety hazards in the home. The incident remains under investigation at this time, police said.
  • Police received a report about an alleged incident of harassment Tuesday. The incident was unfounded, police said.

DuBois City

  • Police received a report about an open door at a vacant house Monday on South Highland Street. Further, a resident was concerned for the safety of the neighborhood and notified police of the open door.  Police checked the house and did not find anyone inside.  Police notified code enforcement to secure the house.
  • On Monday, police received a report about an alleged incident of fraud from a South State Street resident.  She had allegedly purchased a used cell phone that was to be on a national carrier. When she attempted to activate the phone, she learned it was not able to be connected. After an investigation, police determined the matter was civil in nature and referred the female to the magistrate’s office.
  • Police were dispatched to an accident Monday in the 600 block of DuBois Street.  Upon arrival police learned that a vehicle driven by a 48-year-old DuBois man had backed into another driven by a 23-year-old Falls Creek woman. When the man attempted to exchange information the woman refused it and demanded money.  When the man refused and stated he’d call police, the woman left the area.  She was located a short time later and interviewed by police.
  • On Monday, police received a report from a North Fourth Street resident regarding a suspicious letter from the State Correctional Institution at Mercer that had been delivered to his residence by the U.S. Postal Service.  The name and address on the letter was not that of the DuBois resident; the letter was turned over to SCI Mercer and postal authorities to further investigate it, police said.
  • On Monday, police were dispatched to East Park Avenue for a hit-and-run into a commercial building.  Upon arrival police interviewed the owner and witnesses to the accident.  After a brief investigation, police determined the management of the vehicle was at the scene and had accepted responsibility for the damages.
  • Police were dispatched Monday to the Fourth Ward area of DuBois for a sighting of a bear roaming the neighborhood.  Upon arrival police were unable to locate the bear.  No injuries or damages were reported, police said.

Coleman Accused of DUI, Public Drunkenness

DUBOIS – An Ohio man is facing charges after being found slumped over the wheel of his vehicle.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed with District Judge Patrick Ford’s office April 16, David M. Coleman, 54, 6200 E. Route 571, Tipp City, Ohio, is charged by the Sandy Township police with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and public drunkenness.

According to the affidavit, on Feb. 28, police were called to the Sheetz Store on the Blinker Parkway in DuBois for a man who was slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle in the parking lot.

When they arrived, the officers were directed to a black Ford Explorer with an Ohio plate. The driver had attempted to leave but had been blocked in by an EMS unit.

The officers could see a man sitting in the driver’s seat and could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. The driver was unable to focus and could not respond to request to provide a driver’s license and other documents at first.

The officers asked where the driver, later identified as Coleman, was going and Coleman allegedly responded with “home.”

After being evaluated by EMT’s to ensure Coleman was not having a medical emergency, Coleman was taken to Penn Highlands DuBois without incident.

Blood-alcohol testing showed Coleman had a BAC of over 0.300 percent at the time of the incident.

PSP: Emigh Facing Multiple Felony Drug Charges

MORRIS TOWNSHIP – Garrett S. Emigh, 22, of Morrisdale is facing multiple felony charges for allegedly possessing synthetic marijuana with the intent to deliver and related misdemeanors, reported the state police at Clearfield.

According to the original report, on Jan. 6, Emigh was allegedly found with numerous drugs, a large amount of cash and drug paraphernalia at a Wallaceton Road address. He was charged upon state police’s receipt of laboratory analysis.

Emigh’s was set at $25,000 pending further court proceedings, said state police.

State police at DuBois

  • An incident of disorderly conduct occurred Tuesday on Main Street in Falls Creek Borough. During the incident, staff from Domestic Relations attempted to serve a bench warrant on Drew A. Dunworth, 40, of DuBois. Dunworth allegedly fled the scene via a second-story window; he was found in a field/swamp area just south of Falls Creek. When confronted by authorities, Dunworth allegedly attempted to flee but was taken into custody. Dunworth has been charged for the incident, state police said.
  • On Sunday, state police conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on U.S. Route 322 in Winslow Township. When state police approached the vehicle, there was a strong odor of marijuana. Upon investigation state police determined a 19-year-old DuBois man was allegedly under the influence of a controlled substance while in physical control of a vehicle. He was subsequently arrested for DUI without incident, and charges will be filed through the district court. Upon a search of the vehicle, state police located marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and the appropriate charges for this will be filed against the man and his passenger, a 19-year-old DuBois woman.

Lawrence Township

  • Police received a report about an alarm at a local business on the Clearfield – Woodland Highway.
  • Police received a report about a minor accident on River Road.
  • Police received a report about an alleged burglary that occurred in the Hillsdale area.

DuBois City

  • On Wednesday, police received a report about an alleged domestic dispute and theft incident in the 300 block of East Park Avenue. Further, police were advised that the victim’s ex-boyfriend had allegedly showed up intoxicated and removed some of her medication from her residence. She told police that the man had left on foot and gave a description of him; while police were en route to the scene, they observed the man. The man, police said, was staggering in the 100 block of East Park Avenue.  Police subsequently identified him as a 34-year-old DuBois man.  He was taken into custody and transported to the police station.  The man was on state parole and state agents took over custody of him.  Charges will also be filed by city police as a result of the incident.
  • Police responded Wednesday to the Hope Street area, where a bear was in a tree; this was preventing residents from entering their house.  Upon arrival police yelled and activated sirens, which scared the bear from the tree safely.  Police said the residents were then able to enter their house safely.
