Kaufman Waives Charges in Meth Case

DUBOIS – A Rockton man accused of making methamphetamine at his residence recently waived his right to a preliminary hearing during centralized court.

Joshua Keith Kaufman, 24, 326 N. Continental Dr., is charged with criminal attempt-manufacture/delivery/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, manufacture/delivery/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal attempt-operating a methamphetamine lab, causing a catastrophe, possession of red phosphorus with intent to manufacture a controlled substance, risking a catastrophe and recklessly endangering another person. He remains in the Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.

The charges stem from an incident Jan. 19 in Union Township when emergency personnel were called to Kaufman’s address to treat someone with chemical burns. Two emergency medical technicians had to be treated for breathing difficulties after arriving on the scene.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the emergency personnel requested police respond to the scene to investigate a possible meth lab. An emergency medical technician told police when they arrived they found Kaufman in a mobile home at 324 N. Continental Dr., which is the home of his parents.

Kaufman, who had skin burns on his body, told them he was cooking in the shed at the 326 N. Continental Dr. address. When the EMT looked inside the shed, a large haze/cloud came out. He saw soda bottles and red pills on the floor. He asked Kaufman what he was cooking and Kaufman said it was meth. His parents who were at the scene said he cooks all the time, according to the complaint.

When an officer arrived he saw a grey cement block building at 326 N. Continental Dr. The door was open and allegedly in plain view was a can of Coleman fuel, a bottle of lye and two plastic bottles with white and gray-colored residue believed to be “one pot” methamphetamine vessels or acid generators.

A search warrant was obtained for this residence and executed by police and members of the Clandestine Laboratory Response Team.

One plastic bottle appeared to have exploded and was the suspected cause of Kaufman’s burns. Burnt material was scattered all over the room causing scorching to the floor, walls and furniture, according to the police report.

Two suspected acid generators that were partially melted were also found inside the room. Numerous precursor items used for manufacturing meth and related paraphernalia were allegedly found scattered around the living area along with Kaufman’s belongings.

Kaufman was taken by ambulance and then flown to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

When the EMT was questioned again, he explained that when he arrived on the scene Kaufman was sitting in a chair in the mobile home. He said he claimed he had been cleaning with sulfuric acid in his home. His father accompanied the EMT to the Kaufman’s residence behind the mobile home. Kaufman’s father opened the door and a white cloud of smoke came from inside.

There were plastic bottles lying inside on the floor, some pills and burn marks. The EMT said he started to have trouble breathing from the fumes. He then rode in the ambulance to the hospital where he was given oxygen until his carbon dioxide levels came down. The EMT was in the hospital a few hours before being released.

A second EMT who treated Kaufman on the scene told police he noticed Kaufman’s burns were pretty severe and his skin was starting to come off. Later Kaufman allegedly told them he was trying to cook meth inside his residence when it blew up.

There was a strong metallic smell inside the mobile home and a cloudy mist that was something the second EMT had never smelled before, he told police.

When they were getting Kaufman in the ambulance, this EMT became very light headed as if he was going to pass out, he said. He had to receive oxygen and another ambulance was dispatched to take him to hospital for treatment. He also received oxygen at the hospital and was released a few hours later. He stated he had to miss work the next day.

Kaufman is also charged with retail theft and criminal trespass in an unrelated case. He also waived his right to a hearing in that case. His bail for this is $1,000.

DUBOIS – Charges have been filed against a Reynoldsville woman accused of “huffing” in a local shopping plaza.

Hunter Nicole Bell, 20, 253 Main St., Reynoldsville, was charged by Sandy Township police with smell/inhale toxic releasing substances and possession of a solvent for release of toxic vapors/fumes after an incident May 9 in the parking lot near Bon Ton on Commons Drive.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, police were called to the lot because the caller said a woman was huffing something from a bottle inside her vehicle. It was reported that she vomited outside the vehicle before becoming unresponsive.

This witness was able to open the vehicle door and remove the keys from the ignition so the woman could not drive away.

When police arrived on scene, she was responsive but appeared to be under the influence of something. She was identified as Bell. There was vomit outside the vehicle and inside on her clothing and on the seat. She was told to exit the vehicle and was detained.

Under the seat, in plain view was a can of Ultra Duster, which was still cold to the touch; this is consistent with it being recently used, police said.

The officer asked Bell if she was huffing the duster and she denied it at first and then allegedly admitted she was huffing and had a problem. She was transported to the police station and then to Penn Highlands Emergency Room for an evaluation.

Bell’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 10 at District Judge Patrick Ford’s office.

CLEARFIELD – A Coatsville woman accused of smuggling drugs in to an inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale waived her right to a preliminary hearing during centralized court Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.

Amirrah L. McMillan, 23, of Coatsville has been charged with contraband/controlled substance. Bail was set at $25,000 monetary, which she has posted.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on May 6 state police were requested to investigate an incident in which an inmate received suspected marijuana and several small pills at SCI Houtzdale. McMillan allegedly concealed the contraband on her person and provided it to the inmate once she was inside the prison.

When state police spoke to a prison official, he suspected McMillan provided the inmate with the contraband. When she was asked, she admitted to smuggling it in to deliver to the inmate. The prison official told state police he had seized some of the drugs, but he suspected the inmate still had more inside of his body that hadn’t been recovered yet.

State police also interviewed McMillan about the incident. She admitted to picking up a package of drugs from an “associate” to deliver to the inmate. She was unaware of the exact contents but did know it contained drugs, namely marijuana.

McMillan admitted to concealing the package of drugs inside of a body cavity to take them into the prison for the inmate. When she provided the package of contraband to the inmate, he swallowed  it, she told state police.

Man Suspected of Selling Marijuana Waives Charges

CLEARFIELD – A Philipsburg man charged after being found in possession of six pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop waived his right to a preliminary hearing during centralized court Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.

Mathew Lyal Rosenbarker, 27, of Philipsburg has been charged with manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; two counts of intentional possession of a controlled substance; and use/possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was originally set at $50,000 monetary but was lowered to $5,000 monetary at his hearing.

The charges against Rosenbarker stem from an investigation into his alleged distribution of marijuana in Clearfield and Centre counties. Through the investigation, state police learned he was selling marijuana and also making runs to Pittsburgh for pounds of it for distribution.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on May 14 a state trooper learned that Rosenbarker was making a trip to Pittsburgh. The trooper contacted a K-9 trooper and advised him of the information.

On May 15 the K-9 trooper conducted a traffic stop on Route 970 approximately 200 yards from U.S. Route 322. During the stop, he detected an odor of marijuana upon his approach of the Rosenbarker vehicle.

Upon making contact with Rosenbarker, the K-9 trooper found he was nervous and there were inconsistencies in his “stories.” When questioned about the odor of marijuana, Rosenbarker claimed that he’d smoked earlier but didn’t have anything in his vehicle.

The K-9 trooper proceeded to conduct a probable cause search on the vehicle and deployed his K-9, “Tom.” According to the affidavit, the K-9 alerted to the center console and to a large black bag in the trunk.

Afterward the K-9 trooper conducted a search of the bag and located approximately six pounds of marijuana. Rosenbarker was subsequently taken into custody and to the state police barracks at Clearfield.

Upon closer inspection of the bag’s contents, the K-9 trooper located approximately two ounces of “Crumble,” or a THC-based substance.

During an interview with state police, Rosenbarker admitted it was his marijuana and it was in his vehicle. He went on to say that he had paid $2,500 for a pound.

Rosenbarker admitted that he had paid about $650 for approximately two ounces of “Crumble.” He also admitted to having Vicodin pills in his vehicle for which he didn’t have a prescription.

State police located the pills, checked their imprint and determined them to be acetaminophen and hydrocodone. The pills were seized and logged as evidence.

State police conducted a field test of the suspected marijuana, which returned a positive result.

CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield woman accused of driving while she was intoxicated with a child in her vehicle waived her right to a preliminary hearing during centralized court Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.

Jessica Lynne Ward, 35, of Clearfield has been charged with endangering welfare of children; driving under the influence; and recklessly endangering another person. Bail has been set at $5,000 monetary.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on May 6 Clearfield Borough police were dispatched to South Fourth Street for a report involving Ward, who had just picked up her child at a residence there. Ward was believed to be intoxicated, the caller told police.

Police traveled to Ward’s residence to check for her vehicle. It was not there. While police were traveling south on NW Fourth Avenue, Ward drove by in a vehicle matching the description provided by County Control.

Police were able to turn around and make contact with Ward at her residence. Upon arrival police observed her exiting the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

Ward allegedly had an odor of alcohol emitting from her. She also had bloodshot and glassy eyes, a staggered gait, slurred speech and used the door to her vehicle to balance herself.

Ward was asked if she had been drinking, and she replied no. Police advised they had detected an odor of alcohol, at which point she admitted to drinking two beers earlier, “but it had been a while.”

Police observed a juvenile male in the backseat of Ward’s vehicle, according to the affidavit. Police asked Ward to perform a series of field sobriety tests – a finger dexterity test, one-leg stand and the nine-step walk and turn – which she didn’t perform as instructed to by police.

Ward refused to submit to a chemical blood test. She later told police that she takes medication. When she showed them to police, it was found that they all have warnings advising not to drive after consumption. It was also found that alcohol consumption would affect the medication.

Ward was on probation with a no alcohol clause.  Police contacted probation and Ward was lodged in the county jail.

DUBOIS – A former star of the show “Breaking Amish” was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Friday during centralized court in Clearfield County.

Chapel Renee Schmucker-Peace, 33, whose address is listed as Glen Campbell, was charged with manufacture/delivery/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and criminal conspiracy as part of the “Operation Ice Storm” drug investigation.

Schmucker-Peace participated in the sale of heroin to a confidential informant Jan. 15, according to court documents.

After a preliminary hearing, District Judge Patrick Ford ruled that all charges be sent on to the court of common pleas. She is currently incarcerated in state prison and her bail in this case was set at $10,000.

Schmucker-Peace and her husband, Andrew Schmucker, both were featured on the TLC show, “Breaking Amish: Return to Amish.”

According to the affidavit of probable cause, a confidential informant made contact with a male to see if he/she could purchase heroin. It was arranged that they would meet at the Hoss’s parking lot in DuBois.

When two undercover officers and the informant arrived in the parking lot, they saw the vehicle the male had said he would be traveling in parked there. Schmucker-Peace was allegedly the driver of this vehicle.

The informant went to the vehicle and leaned into the passenger side window to speak with the male. Shortly after this, the informant walked back to the undercover vehicle and got in.

He/she allegedly handed an officer a Tylenol container with nine stamp bags of heroin inside it. Later it was discovered that only seven of the bags contained heroin and two others were open and empty.

A lab confirmed that the substance in the seven bags was heroin, police said.

The “Operation Ice Storm” arrests were the result of a year-long investigation that involved the DuBois City and Sandy Township police departments, the Clearfield County Drug Task Force, the District Attorney and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.

In March more than 30 people were arrested for their connection with this drug ring that was selling methamphetamine and heroin in the area, according to previously published reports.

Fugitive of the Week: Keith Parlor (Provided photo)

CLEARFIELD – District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week.

Shaw identified the fugitive as Keith Parlor, 24, of Lord Street, DuBois. Parlor is wanted for failure to appear at a preliminary hearing May 20.

On April 18 Officer Scott Johnson of the Sandy Township Police Department filed a criminal complaint against Parlor. He charged Parlor with retail theft, M2; theft by deception, M2; and criminal trespass, M3.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on March 16 Johnson was assigned to investigate the report of a retail theft that occurred at a local business. Upon arrival at the scene, Johnson met with store personnel.

Store personnel provided information and surveillance video from the incident in which Parlor was allegedly observed concealing electronic devices on his person and then removing the items from the business.

Parlor is then observed returning to the store later the same day and allegedly exchanging the stolen items for a gift card. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Parlor had previously signed a trespass notice due to a prior incident.

A preliminary hearing was held May 20, at which time Parlor failed to appear, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Parlor is described as a Caucasian male standing 5 feet, 11 inches tall. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone with knowledge of Parlor’s location is asked to call Clearfield County Crime Stoppers at 800-376-4700. All calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential.

Keech to Stand Trial in Meth Case

DUBOIS – A Brockway woman will stand trial for allegedly possessing a quantity of methamphetamine that she was selling in a local hotel room.

Brittany Nicole Keech, 23, is charged with manufacture/delivery/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, and criminal conspiracy.

After a preliminary hearing during centralized court, District Judge Patrick Ford ruled these charges should be sent on to the court of common pleas for further disposition. Keech’s bail was set at $10,000.

She is currently serving a state prison sentence of 10 months to two years for a probation violation on a retail theft charge.

These new charges stem from an incident Dec. 3 in Sandy Township when she was found in a local motel with drugs.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Sandy Township police were called to the Homewood Suites Hotel to investigate a strong odor of marijuana that was coming from one of the rooms.

When police arrived they were advised that a man who had exited that room was leaving through the side door. The officers made contact with this individual.

While they spoke with him, they could smell marijuana. He confirmed that he had just left the room in question. The officers thought he appeared nervous and was trying to avoid their questions. But when they asked, he consented to a search of his person and his back pack. An officer allegedly found a silver grinder that had a small amount of marijuana in it.

The officers detained him before speaking to the hotel manager regarding the report. They were told a man named “Clark” had rented the room but they thought it was Keech, who was actually in the room. The officers were aware that Keech had active warrants for her arrest.

As the officers walked down the hallway toward the room, they could smell burnt marijuana. It was strongest in front of the room reported as the source of the smell.

They knocked on the door and it was answered by Keech. After she opened the door, she walked away. One of the officers stopped her and advised her to sit on the couch. She stated her boyfriend was in the shower.

An officer knocked on the bathroom door and identified himself. A man, Justin Zeruth, opened the door. On the toilet, allegedly in plain view was a tin container with needles and a powdery substance.

Inside the tin was a small plastic bag with a clear to white crystal substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine, police said. On the sink was a straw and a razor blade. When Zeruth’s pants were searched for weapons, officers found $700.

The officers received permission from both occupants to search the room. They  found two scales, used and unused needles, plastic bags, nine small bags of suspected meth, drug paraphernalia including smoking pipes and an additional $380 in cash, according to the report.

Keech and Zeruth were taken into custody.  Zeruth told officer he and Keech had been selling drugs from the room. He said they would sell a gram of crystal meth for $50 and he had bought two eight balls of meth that they “cut” to sell.

Zeruth, 28, 36 Courson Road, DuBois, was also charged with manufacture/delivery/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, and criminal conspiracy. He waived his right to a hearing in April. His bail is $1,000.

Both Keech and Zeruth were part of “Operation Ice Storm” which was a large scale investigation of a drug ring selling methamphetamine and heroin in the area.

More than 30 people were arrested in March as a result of this year long investigation by the DuBois City and Sandy Township police departments, the Clearfield County Drug Task Force, the District Attorney, and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.

Reynoldsville Man Accused of Not Delivering Grave Markers Facing Additional Charges

CLEARFIELD – A Reynoldsville man previously accused of not delivering grave markers to his clients is facing additional charges.

Edmund A. Grenier, Jr., 70, an inmate of state prison, is already charged with 30 counts each of deceptive business practice, theft by deception and theft by failure to make required disposition of funds in one case and in two additional cases he is facing one count each of these same charges.

A trial for all three cases was scheduled in February, but it was cancelled. He was scheduled to pick a new jury in June.

During plea and sentencing court on Tuesday, Heather Bozovich, who was appointed to represent Grenier in April, asked Judge Paul E. Cherry to continue the cases, which are now scheduled for a trial in July.

She said she needs more time to review the large amount of evidence in these complex cases. She also mentioned that there are additional charges that have been filed with a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 22.

Cherry told her that if the trial does not happen in July, he will not have a place in his schedule to do it until the first part of 2017. He said Grenier will have to sign a waiver to Rule 600, which assures his right to a speedy trial. It is possible that this new case can be added to the trial for the other cases.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Grenier charged customers of Crown Crest Cemetery in Lawrence Township for granite bases and bronze plaques and failed to supply them.

In some cases, the victims purchased the items to be placed in storage until they would be needed. None of these items were delivered as expected and Grenier told some of the victims the bases and plaques were in a storage facility in Pittsburgh.

A few of the victims paid for additional information to be added onto standing bronze plaques and this service was not provided either.

Over the past few years, Grenier has been charged several, different times in both Clearfield County for Crown Crest Cemetery and in Jefferson County for Lakelawn Memorial Park for his failure to deliver products to his customers.

In January of 2015, he pleaded guilty in Clearfield County on two, separate cases to felony counts of deceptive business practice, theft by failure to make required disposition of funds and theft by deception.

Prior to that in Aug. 27, 2013, he pleaded guilty to deceptive business practices.

He pleaded guilty to two cases with the same charges in Jefferson County. He is currently serving a probation revocation sentence from Jefferson County of 20 to 40 years in state prison that he was given in September of 2015.

Grenier’s ex-wife, Brenda Grenier is charged with 30 counts each of deceptive or fraudulent business practices, theft by deception, and theft by failure to make required disposition of funds and two counts of theft by unlawful taking in one case and with one count each of deceptive business practices, theft by deception and theft by failure to make required disposition of funds in two other cases.

Brenda Grenier was identified as the secretary and treasurer of Grenier Enterprises Inc. as well as Crown Crest Cemeteries. In June of 2014, she withdrew $7,577.55 from the business account.

She admitted she took the funds because Edmund Grenier had stopped paying her a regular salary from the business. Brenda Grenier has not been associated with the day-to-day operation or maintenance of the business since 2011, according to the criminal complaint.

According to online court records, in July Jefferson County Judge John Foradora ordered that all accounts in the name of Lakelawn Memorial Park or Crown Crest Memorial Park be closed and reopened by attorney Jeffrey M. Gordon. The cemeteries were to be sold to pay the debts of the business.

Ex-Fire Chief Pleads Guilty for Involvement with Brush Fire

CLEARFIELD – A former area fire chief pleaded guilty Tuesday for his involvement with a brush fire.

Christopher G. Leone, 24, 325 Maramar Rd., 1398 Treasure Lake, DuBois pleaded guilty to criminal mischief, official oppression and a summary count of dangerous burning.

Judge Paul E. Cherry sentenced him to three years probation and fined him $525 plus costs. He must also complete 100 hours of community service.

The charges stem from a fire on April 15, 2015 in a wooded area at the intersection of Harborview and Jolly Roger roads in Treasure Lake. Leone is the former fire chief of the Treasure Lake Fire Volunteer Co.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Leone’s co-defendant, Aaron Kulbacki, a volunteer with the same fire department, confessed to starting the fire. He told police that there was general conversation within the fire department about causing small fires to generate alarm volumes.

While he was in a vehicle with Leone on April 15, 2015, heading to training program in Tionesta, Leone started talking about setting fires. Kulbacki said Leone asked him to set a brush fire with a flare. Kulbacki told police on the way back from the training Leone brought up the subject again.

Leone was at the fire station when Kulbacki took a flare and threw it over an embankment. He told police he then went home and waited. It was about 15 minutes before someone reported the fire. After the fire was put out, Kulbacki said Leone laughed and told him he would not get caught.

In July Leone was questioned by police. He said he did not set any fires and suggested the fire was probably started by kids messing around with a rust-oleum can. He later admitted he was joking with Kulbacki about setting fires when they were on their way back from the training program in Tionesta.

Kulbacki, 23, 1500 Treasure Lake, pleaded guilty to a summary dangerous burning charge in July.

According to previously published report, a statement was issued in July from Dana E. Smith, president of the Sandy Township Fire Department, Jonathan W. Uren, Treasure Lake Fire Co. chief and John P. Hallowell, chief of the Sandy Township Fire Department.

It said “The leadership of the Treasure Lake Volunteer Fire Co. took immediate action and the two individuals were suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. It is our understanding that one of the two individuals has already tendered his resignation.

“Although scenarios such as these are always an embarrassment to a fire department and often create highly emotional responses within a community, I want to assure the citizens of Sandy Township that their fire department is strong and that we remain united in our commitment to provide the highest level of fire and rescue protection to the citizens, visitors and mutual aid communities served by the dedicated men and women of the Sandy Township Volunteer Fire Department.”

The Sandy Township Board of Supervisors and Township Manager, Dave Monella, also issued a statement pledging their full support. They said, “We want all the residents of our township and surrounding areas to know that the alleged actions of a few do not and should not be a reflection on the dedicated volunteers who serve our communities.”

Bloom Waives Charges in School Assault Case

CLEARFIELD – A Curwensville wrestling standout accused in a school assault waived all charges to court Wednesday at his preliminary hearing at the Clearfield County Jail.

Shae John Bloom, 18, of Curwensville has been charged with four counts of disorderly conduct and two counts of harassment. His bail was modified from $10,000 unsecured to $25,000 unsecured at the hearing.

The charges against Bloom stem from an incident Jan. 27 during which he allegedly assaulted another male student at the Curwensville Area High School.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on the date in question, Chief David Johnston of the Curwensville Borough police was dispatched to a report about an assault at the school.

Johnston observed surveillance footage and school staff identified Bloom walking in the hallway towards the wrestling room. As he approached its entrance, the victim was exiting the wrestling room.

Bloom proceeded to allegedly grab the victim and throw him towards the wall near the building exit, knocking him down. While the victim went to exit the building, Bloom continued to engage in physical contact.

Both students were then outside, where there aren’t any security cameras. The victim told school officials that Bloom continued to strike him repeatedly and kicked him.

The victim was able to get away from Bloom. He walked around the rear area of the building and re-entered the school through the doors at the student parking area.

He went into the locker room to weigh himself. Bloom then came in and shut the door. He proceeded to grab the victim and throw him off the scale. He also hit and kicked him, according to the affidavit.

Witnesses entered the locker room and attempted to pull Bloom off the victim. One witness stood between them, but Bloom was still able to strike the victim about his body a few more times.

Bloom then allegedly grabbed the victim by his throat, but the witness stopped him. Another witness entered the locker room when Bloom allegedly threw the victim over a bench; the victim’s head hit the lockers.

Bloom walked out of the locker room but returned striking the paper towel dispenser. A witness checked on the victim but then went after Bloom to try to calm him down.

On Jan. 28 Johnston went to the school and met with the victim and his mother. He also met with the school principal and Bloom.

The victim stated that during the incident, he was in fear of being hurt. If not for the other students being in the team room, he stated that Bloom would have severely hurt him.

After wrestling practice the day after the incident, the victim was at his vehicle and going to leave when Bloom approached him. The victim told Bloom he didn’t want to talk to him.

Bloom told the victim that he needed to “show him some respect,” and the victim replied that he hadn’t been shown any the day before. Bloom then allegedly stated to the victim that “you’re OK for now, but I’ll get you.”

Bloom reported to the school principal Jan. 28 that he and the victim had engaged in an argument in the wrestling room, and it had resulted in them pushing each other.

Bloom continued on, stating that they had gone outside but then continued to argue in the team room. “Everything eventually cooled down,” he told the principal.

In the affidavit, Johnston stated that Bloom had lied while relating his version of the incident to the principal based upon surveillance showing him assault the victim.

CLEARFIELD – An Irvona man accused of having child pornography was sentenced to state prison during plea and sentencing court in Clearfield County.

Aaron Michael Keith, 30, an inmate of the jail, pleaded guilty to 11 felony counts of sexual abuse of children and a felony count of criminal use of communication facility before Judge Paul E. Cherry.

Cherry sentenced him to 12 months to four years in state prison. He was also ordered to complete the Project Point of Light Program and submit to DNA testing at a cost of $250.

It was noted that Keith was evaluated to see if he should be classified as a sexually violent predator. It was determined he did not meet that criteria, but he will still have to register his address with law enforcement under Megan’s Law.

Prior to sentencing, his attorney, Chris Pentz, asked for a county sentence because Keith cooperated with authorities and has already served four months in jail.

When Keith addressed the court, he said he takes full responsibility for his actions.

“I deeply regret the stress this has put on my family and community,” he said.

The charges stem from an incident at Keith’s home Oct. 23. According to the affidavit of probable cause, agents of the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Child Predator Section was conducting a routine online investigation of pornography through multiple file sharing networks.

They traced a file to Keith’s internet connection at his home. Investigators were able to download one video file from this source.

In December agents executed a search warrant on Keith’s residence. They found additional video files of young girls on the hard drives at the home.

When Keith spoke to investigators, he said he knew why they were there and he cooperated with the agents.
